1.0 out of 5 stars Not HD Unless HD do not mean hi def, February 26, 2012
This review is from: BOYO VTL422HD HD Rear View Camera (Electronics)
Please, please. This camera is not HD! Please stop abusing what is HD. Minimum HD resolution is 1280 x 720p. This camera has "Effective Pixels: 680 x 512". Always be very skeptical when the spec quote effective pixel. Another point that give the clue it is merely an interlace SD camera is it uses composite video interface.

Due to a momentary brain-lapse, I inadvertently connected the power/ground backwards & fried both the camera & monitor. Much to my surprise, even after thoroughly explaining that it was MY fault & I was willing to pay for the repair, Boyo replaced both at no charge! Kudos on that part. I did have the similar experience that others have had with the skewed picture-way off. However I was able to correct it by taking the camera completely apart & adjusting the lens mount. System works great now & the picture is very clear-even at night. I do find it odd that there is no connection at the camera-end of the system to connect the reverse lights. The supplied wiring harness needs to have this added. Otherwise, you need to run another wire from the monitor up front all the way back again. Doesn't make much sense.

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointed with boyo, again, October 27, 2011

Bought a Boyo 7001Q monitor that came with part of the protective screen coating torn up at one of the edges. This Boyo VTL422HD camera seemed like solid material, connection cord between camera and harness to head unit for backup capabilities was perfectly long (~25 ft.), but the harness itself is really confounding. Read on for further disappointment with another BOYO product.

The harness, which plugs in directly to your head unit or external monitor has a yellow composite male RCA plug, one 4" long insulated cord with push-button for mirror image, and the same for the option to turn the grid on and off, and a ground/power insulated cord for obvious hook up.

What's REMARKABLY POOR ENGINEERING/DUMB: the ground and power wires are insulated TOGETHER!?!?! So, you have to very carefully split and reveal more wire to make proper connections, and additionally purchase extra wire for hooking up to ground and power, that is, if you do it as specified for hooking up to...
